Hello Ive got a slight of a problem here.
My new computer cant give my screen more than 60 hz.
With my old computer I could force it up 2 100 hz.
I can change the hz frequenze on my desktop and I have even tried Refreshlock, and the program ati catalyster(which followed with my new graphics card) but when I look at my screen properties it still says 60 hz.

Facts about my computer.
Ive got a brand new computer with a sapphire radeon 1950xt graph card.
I got a 19" ctr screen.
I have windows xp proffesional ,,,, A VERY LEGAL ONE

I really need more than 60 hz cause I feel disturbence in my eyes when I sit in front of the computer so please help ,

If you already have your radeon drivers installed look in your device manager for you Display and see if it calls it a Default Monitor instead of its name, if it does look up your CRT and see if they have drivers for it. Its not good to run a bootleg copy, get a legal one.

The reason you feel the disturbance in your eyes is because you are using a CRT screen. It has nothing to do with the refresh rate.

lol do you know what refresh rates are?
a LARGE majority of monitors only go up to 60hz because that's approx 60 frames per second. The human eye/brain can only pick up on 30frames per second. Yes, there was a glitch in xp or with certain drivers, that allowed you to select a higher hz than the monitor could support. Nonetheless, the monitor still only displayed 60fps. Your new video card is smart enough to detect your monitor's max refresh rate, and thus limit at at it. 60hz is fine, and you seem like one of those people who believes 'More is better', so just leave it at that and forget about it.

EDIT: lol also, you didn't need to mention that your xp was/wasn't pirated in your two threads. 1. no one cares, it doesn't affect this at all, 2. it's against the rules to discuss it on this forum despite how many of us may be running pirated copies. and if you had any common sense, you just flat out wouldn't mention it in this one if you didn't want us to know it was pirated, seeing as how it just makes you more obvious.

No, almost any decent CRT monitors can go above 60hz refresh rate, my dell 19" CRT goes up to 85hz. And your eyes can detect flickering at 60hz, especially on large monitors.

oh >_>
then i just had an old crappy crt. ANYWAYS, my point wasn't that, it was that I used to be able to adjust my refresh rate higher than the monitor was able to display, but I plugged in my new computer into it once and the video card recognized all available refresh rate settings for my monitor and the highest was the max of the monitor.

And congratulations on your amazing eyes 0_0...I don't know a single person who can tell a difference from a 60hz monitor to a 90hz monitor (my friend had a really good crt)

Set your CRT to 60hz, and go to the desktop. Then focus off to the side of the monitor and you should be able to see a faint flicker. Even though it looks discrete, it can really give you a headache after a while. :(

oh lol, i trashed my crt a long time ago, I'm on an lcd now, but rate is at 60hz. don't notice it.

lol on an unrelated note, I just looked at your case stickers >_>. I couldn't find any pictures on the internet of stickers on our case so I just put them on the top...after seeing where you put yours, mine look strange to me

You don't notice on an LCD because a LCD isn't interlaced, Unlike CRT monitors.

If you've ever seen a tv or monitor through a camcorder or similar, you'll notice a weird grey section of the screen moving upwards.. I believe this is also interlacing in action.

Or try playing a fps game and do a fast 180 turn. That is where the real problem is u want it 2 be smooth all the way....Well anyways thanks for trying.
Anyways I tried reinstalling my graphics card and got it 2 work when I played but when I xed the screen went black.
But anyways I think I will have 2 buy a new screen.

A good old trustworthy ctr screen :)

And about that with my windows I thought that it would make a differense u dont have 2 go on whine about it.
I already have 2 Real windowses but they are dell and compaq and I didnt want all the programmes that followed with.
and I certainly didnt want 2 pay 150 dollars for a new one so who can blame me?
hope that matter went out of every pointy guys mind now.
