Can't get my computer to POST. Please help!

Alright first off I have got it to post a few times by just powering it on and off a few times. So I had a chance to install W7 OS when I could get it to post *which I did and it ran great untill I powered it off for the day. I tryed powering it on today and I can't get it to Post for the life of me. So I've been tinkering with it for awhile now and I found out if I unplug the power to my video card I get a post beep when I power it back on. Does this mean I have a bad video card or a bad psu or what. Thanks for any help you can give me. Also this is my first build.*

hmm that power supply is a brand i have never heard of and it might just be a cheap one, but i might be wrong, im just saying there is a possibility that it might be a dud one
 
I wouldn't trust that power supply with your build. When you built your system did you use the brass standoffs between the case and motherboard? But you definately need a different psu.
 
I would recommend taking your computer or whatever to a computer shop with an expert who can fix the problem but I also recommend buying a new video card and a new psu just in case. I wish you most excellent luck ;) ; )
 
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to send back my psu and go from there. I did use the stand offs when I built my computer. What does that have to do with it though? Isn't that supposed to ground your computer? Anyways do you have any recomandations on a power supply for my build? I'm kinda on a $70 budget on a power supply. Again thanks for the replies and I really appreciate the help. Please get back to me when you can.

No, the brass standoffs are used to keep your motherboard from grounding out against the case and stopping it from working or booting. Do you plan on upgrading the 6770 anytime soon? If so then I would suggest a power supply such as this.

Two 12volt in the Antec, 650Watt, rails vs. the single in the 620Watt, Antec. Was always told more 12volt rails = better. Also your talking about $49.99 compared to $89.99. Only major difference is the one you posted in modular which is a nice feature. :) I want a modular one :(

Actually, its better to have one single rail with all the power compared to multi rails which splits up the total power.

Interesting. Thanks for the advice.

I would always have to recommend a good, name brand, PSU for any system. While many complain regarding the cheaper ones in off the shelf systems, I've had great luck with them. The ones that came with the systems, I've only purchased Antec.

Surprised my old W3052 Emachines PSU is still humming away since July 2005 :D
That system is crap, but it runs :eek:
