Start - control panel - folder options - view - make sure that the "use simple file sharing" (at the bottom of the advanced options settings) option is NOT checked.
Check the security settings of the file(s) that you are trying to share have the correct permissions set.
What happens when you goto run - in the open box type: \\"name of the other computer" and click ok?
