Can't get windows 10 to download

I have decided to upgrade from W7 64bit pro to windows 10 and clicked on the "Get Windows 10" icon. Up pops a white window with a rotating timer and then NOTHING.
This timer has been going round for 6 hours now and I don't think anything is happening. I followed Microsoft recommendations to clear the download folder, stop and start the update procedure, including restarting the PC several times, but nothing seems to work.

Microsoft is very poor at actually trying to help me. What am I doing wrong?

You can use the Media Creator tool to manually download and upgrade to Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

I'm pretty sure the method I explained in the video below still works.

All done and working well. Thanks again Spirit for the link, why Microsoft can't make the job as easy as that I don't know. I must say that I have been reluctant to go to W10 from W7 for some time but have so far been pleasantly surprised about the transition.

I haven't had good luck on getting it download using the windows 10 icon either. Always use the media creation tool and just choose to upgrade this pc or use my copy of 10 on DVD

Yup. I'm another that always uses the Media Creation tool to install Windows 10.
