Can't get Windows to create a new connection.

I installed a fresh copy of XP yesterday and can't get it to connect to the internet. It shows a 1394 connection but that's it (and the computer won't connect through that). Also whenever I create a new connection, it simply doesn't appear in the menu.

There's a few things that I think are problematic. For one, I can't find my motherboard CD to install all the drivers. I downloaded the nForce networking controller driver off this computer and put it on the other computer but to no avail: still won't create a new connection.

I have an ASUS MB but ASUS doesn't have the drivers on their website so I can't get them off that. Google also yields very little in the way of drivers (I was lucky to find the network driver).


So is there a way around this or am I up the creek without the MB CD?


Edit: BTW I made a copy of my drivers from the other installation (different HD, same computer) so I have those available to me, but I can't get the new XP installation to recognize the MB hard ware to allow me to install the drivers.

You can't create a connection because you don't have a network adapter installed. The 1394 firewire connection can't be used for internet. What motherboard do you have? Unless you are using an Asus motherboard that came from an OEM machine then Asus will have the drivers on their website.
 
Using M2NPV-VM.

And I checked but there are no drivers on their website. None for networking, at the least. I can find them for VGA, BIOS, RAID, and various utilities (none which will help) but nothing to do with networking.
 
Go back to their website and choose that motherboard, this time click the plus sign next to "others".. Then download the chipset driver, its the second item. The network driver is included with the chipset.
