Cant get Workgroup going on only 2 pc's annoying problem

Alright got 2 pc's on a linksys wireless router (though they are connected directly to the router with cat5e cables) anyways... Im able to get one pc to share certain folders to the other and i simply set this network up with the network setup wizard and the other pc DOES show up in the SAME workgroup but you cannot access it or even see the folder that i apparently shared it says

\\computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the system administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. Incorrect function.

Running WINXP SP2 Umm I even turned firewalls off on both pc's just to try it out to see if that was the problem (only using windows firewall) nothing happened... even turned off the virus scans (i know i know they probably have nothing to do with it but i thought it was worth a shot). Anyways the other pc is set up the exact way as the one that will NOT share files...even has firewall up and everything i dont understand.

please tell me what other information that would be helpful to getting this problem solved i simply want to share one folder on this pc for the other.

Thanks in advance

Joseph

P.S
You CAN see the computer in the workgroup just cant open it up...i dunno how to make these access restrictions go away...blah :(

MAN this is FRUSTRATING PLEASE HELP!!!

Open your TCP/IP properties and make sure that netbios over TCP/IP is in the list of transfer protocols. If it is not add it:

Step 1: Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Network and Internet Connections.
2. Click Network Connections.
3. Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
4. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
5. Click the General tab, and then click Advanced.
6. Click the WINS tab.
7. Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK two times.
8. Click Close to close the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box.
9. Close the Network Connections window.

Step 2: Start the Computer Browser service
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Double-click Services and Applications.
3. Double-click Services.
4. On the right side, right-click Computer Browser, and then click Start.
5. Close the Computer Management window.

did not work

here's what it looks like trying to access the "thepowa" from "thepowa2" it doesnt happen..but the other way around works..so i guess its not that big of a deal i just dont understand why....

Don't know what to say. Usually that's what it is, you're sure there's no firewall running thepowa?

Did you try the 2nd method for the link I posted?

Method 2: Install File and Print Sharing and make sure that it is not blocked by Windows Firewall
Step 1: Install File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks
1. Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
3. Click the General tab, and then click Install.
4. Click Service, and then click Add.
5. In the Network Service list, click File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks, and then click OK.
6. Click Close.

Step 2: Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is not blocked by Windows Firewall
1. Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, make sure that the Don't allow exceptions check box is not selected.
3. Click the Exceptions tab.
4. On the Exceptions tab, make sure that the File and Printer Sharing check box is selected, and then click OK.

And out of curiosity what are the security flaws//issues that are possible with what i am attempting to set up IF any at all??

Hello

One thing might be is if you have a password on one CPU and not the other, this will happen. Also make sure you uncheck use simple file sharing, you can do this by opening my CPU and select tools at the top, then folder option, then select the view tab, then scroll all the way down and uncheck that option and select apply then ok. hope this helps if not i will continue to do so:cool:

I figured out the problem it ended up being i needed to have a password to log-in to windows..wow n00b mistake..

thanks to all whom took the time to help with this
