Cant go higher than 209 FSB

hello peeps,

Just got my gigabyte GA-K8N Pro SLi running,
Tryed overclocking it
got to 209Mhz FSB and it stopped booting:confused: The deafult VCORE is at 1.35V and I have rasied it to 1.55V with still no luck:confused:

I reset the CMOS and is working fine now and I have also looked at overclocking101 or whatever it is and can't find what Im looking for.

Im not sure if my Ram increases as I oc the FSB but I havent changed the VDIMM Voltage yet.

Should I try that:)?

Also I have some built in software that came with my board (TuneStart or something like that) , I go to the overclocking tab and increase the FSB, look in windows processor properties and nothing has changed:confused:
Even when I reboot it still stays the same.

Anyone else had this problem

Anybody know how I can sort it?

Thanks
Jason

Any replies will be greatly appreciated:)

have you tried lowering the divider? it could be your ram isnt a good OCer. its like mine i couldnt go higher than ~218mhz cuz of the RAM but i lowered the divider and i could go higher.

or have a try at finding the max of CPU and RAM. for example lower everything like the CPU multiplier and leave the divider at 1:1 to find the max of the RAM and you could do the same for CPU just put the divider to the lowest. then once you find the max you can figure out the best possible setting to get close to your RAM max and CPU max.

the divider is at 2:2 and u have just made me realize, my ram is Corsair Value:( , could that be the problem?

Heya

Also make sure that the HTT multi is set at 4x and not 5x until 225, then shift to 3x when you go over. You should never have the HTT frequency over 1000Mhz.

Just tried a gig of the good stuff, still no luck:confused:, il have a look at the HTT when I next get this system running:| the CMOS wont reset for some reasonm how long does it usually take?

have you connected teh correct jumpers,

if you cant get that to work remove the battery and unplug the mains for a min or two

Just curious as to why it shouldnt be over 1000MHz

Try raising the chipset voltage. What are your chipset temps?

Oh and if you lower the CPU multi does it still stop at 209? Lower everything else so we can isolate the problem.

If you can not go above 209 w/ a 1:1 divider, then it's your RAM that's holding you back. When you set your FSB to 209, it means you're already OCing your Ram to 418Mhz. If it's value ram, you're very limited to OCing, and 209 isn't bad for value ram. However, just because it boots doesn't mean there'll be no problems/errors w/ your memory. Use memtest to test your ram, otherwise you'll have issues in the future. Make sure you get 2 passes, or at least I would.

Lower the divider of the RAM, underclock your ram, I wouldn't run value ram much over 400, then increase the FSB.

Try raising your VDIMM by +0.1V, and loosen your timings up a bit. That may help you obtain a higher FSB frequency while retaining the 1:1 RAM divider.

If that doesn't help too much, I would definately look into setting your RAM dividers to a different ratio.
