Hey Computer Forum,
My little bros computer took a crap on him, and I offered to build a new one for him if he'd buy the parts. We agreed on a $400 budget, which I thought would be no sweat.
After looking around on Newegg, this was the best I could come up with at $12 over budget! I didn't even get the DVD-R I wanted...
The only requirements are that I buy Windows 7 (32-bit should be fine), have (at least) a dual-core processor 2.0GHz or above, 4GB RAM and at least a 320GB SATA HDD. And a new PSU, Mobo and heatsink+fan.
I have a 250GB IDE HDD I'm going to put in for storage, and an IDE DVD-R (though I would like to buy a SATA one if I could budget for it). And we have a good full size ATX case.
If anyone can come up with a better parts list, I'd be very appreciative. Afraid I'm not getting the most "bang for my buck".
The computer will be used only for basic web-surfing, watching movies, listening to music, playing kid's games (nothing graphic-intensive) and doing homework.
