Alright so I'm running a nice, old computer at work where they're too cheap to buy me a new one. I believe it's a 2002 Windows XP. I use it for AutoDesk Inventor 2010 (Also too cheap to upgrade to newer version). Suddenly some features stopped showing up while using Inventor so I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. However, during the installation, a message came up that said it could not install DirectX 9.0 because it had not passed the logo testing. I did some research out there and people say to download it right from the windows website. I got the same error trying to download it directly from Windows.
Can someone please explain a little about what DirectX does? I'm missing the Inventor Studio option and the ability to export to PDF as well as save as a STEP file in case it matters.
I'm also looking for a solution to this. Is there anything I can try? I'm starting to think this computer is messed up beyond repair. I tried to restore the computer to a previous state a couple days after I couldn't get it to work and it just kept saying something about the restore feature not being able to work because something was missing or something like that.
Any advice? Thanks!
