I downloaded the lastest drivers from the Nvidia site, and it get's to a point in the installation process, and my screen resolution jumps from 1280x1024 down to 800x600, and tells me there's some error, and that I should contact my vendor. What the hell do I do?

Hi
It sounds like a corrupted driver somewhere what error do you get?
You should also run your chipset drivers before installing the Nvidia one.
First uninstall the current Nvidia driver from control panel then install latest chipset driver followed by new Nvidia drivers.

Good Luck

You know what, I originally forgot to un-install the original driver. When I did that and tried to install the new one, it was still no help. However, I punched in the error code I got into google, and ended up finding the answer I needed.

I had to go into two obscure folders and change their name. As soon as I did that, everything installed just fine!
