i setup my computer out of the case (doing some maintenance) i put my xp disk in to reinstall windows. after i make a partition and format it, it starts setting up files and whatnot . but at this point my pc keeps resetting without xp on the hdd. ive done severeal reinstalls on this exact setup. what could be wrong?

Ok... Not sure if we have enough info here.
Did you delete all partitions before creating a new one? Make certain that your installation did not accidently go to a wrong partition. If not,

When you say the computer 'Resets', is that before what appears to be the completion of Win XP or is it during the installation? If during, then check the cpu fan and make sure its working. If after, then try another hard drive.

Format your entire HDD using the special DOS tool called KILL DISK 4.1 and after that install the Windows XP on the completely formatted HDD by creating just one partition that uses the entire HDD.

Cheers!

i had to hard drives hooked up. so after it reset a few times, i detached one. the other one i keep doing a complete format of the whole thing. i don't partition it or anything. before i did that, the system would restart in the middle of installing the windows files. but on that last try it finished and reset like it was suppose to, but when it booted back up, windows still wasn't on it.
