cant install windows xp pro

well i put the disc in restart the pc go into the bios tell it to boot from cd, reset the pc againg.... it doesnt do it.

My computer crashed giving me a warning saying that it was shut down to protect from files now when i try boot up it asks me if i want to start windows normally or best previous setup etc and I select an option. Nothing happens for a while, then eventually a loading bar appears on the bottem of the screen. It then proceeds to take a longer time to load..but then randomly stops I see a flash of blue and white text and then the computer restarts itself...

Is my Hard-Drive shot? Or is there a solution to this? Any help will be appreciated

thanx

Keep pressin F8 just after the bios, wait until a menu appears with various options. Chose the "Disable automatic reboot on system failure" one and then let your computer restart again. this time the blue screen of death will stay on. post here what the error says.

^ Furthermore...

When you hit F8, you will see what's called the Boot Selector screen. Select CD and then if prompted again to press a key, do so. Your Install CD should boot. It will do it's thing and ask you to input some info, then restart. Once the system restarts, you will again see the 'press any key to boot from CD'; do NOT press a key, else the CD will boot again instead of copying the files and progressing with the installation.

umm umm...i don't remember exactly how to do this...but i had the same problem with windows coming along and telling me that he's going to shut down to protect my treasured files...and then the bluescreen.from the cd you should be able to go to command prompt. type in "help" or something like that to get the list of commands with a short description...find the one that tells it will fix/rebuild or whatever your MBR and that should(could) get your computer fixed without reinstall.

I dont think fixing the master boot record is going to help in this instance, since he already starts loading windows before he gets the BSOD.
