cant install windows

ive got a serious issue with my PIII computer, ive just bought a new 500gb PATA HD for it and im trying to load windows 2000/XP on it but i cant, I boot from cd to start installing windows format the disk etc etc and then it says your computer is restarting in 15 sec time so it restarts but this is the problem instead of continuing where it left of it wants to boot from cd again and for the life of me i cant figure it out. Please help me?!?!

Change the boot order to HDD first so it doesnt boot from disc on startup!

Okay, just try continuing with install..it should continue where you left off after restart..

no when i select the HD as first boot it come ups with partioning table error or something like that

When windows has formatted and installed files it prompts that it will restart the pc in 15 seconds when it restarts the pc it will say push any key to boot from the cd all you have to do is leave it dont push any keys and it will continue to install windows.

i know but it doesnt come up with that it just automatically boots up the cd and starts again

You might have a sticky key on your keyboard try a different one

no i dont because some times its says press any key to boot from cd it is really wierd

try taking the CD out and when windows starts to come back up with the install put it back in.

done that also and thats like selecting 1st boot to HD it does exactly the same all that happens is errors, partioning table is wrong or windows cant load file missing

well try doing the whole thing over again.. repartition, format.. maybe put the hard drive in another computer or boot with a dos boot disk and perform a chkdsk /F on it. you might have a bad hdd.
