Can't Install Windows

Need help. I have a GA 8SKML motherboard, BIOS Version F2 (Which is the latest). 2 x 256MB RAM. HP CD-Writer. Samsung 40 Gig HDD. No matter what I try I cannot install windows XP (Tried 3 CD's) or Win 2000 (Which I have installed on this PC many time with no problems.)

I have tried all suggestions on other forums and google. Like remove all unessacery hardware and peripherals, disable onboard LAN, sound etc... Use only one RAM module. Press f5 during Boot from CD and select different PC types.

Everytime the windows setup hangs on "setup is starting windows"

Any help would be appreciated.

How long have you let it try to load? Could be a bad optical drive(cd burner)... Have you another one you could try?

I have left the machine hanging for 12 hours, still nothing. I have tried 4 CD rom drives and still nothing. Ubuntu linux runs but no windows

I have tried 4 different hardrives that work on other machines. I wanted to run a diagnostic on the HDD, however my Floppy decided to no longer work
