hey my friend gave me his pc so i can fix it

spex:
cpu: amd athlon 64 x2 4600
ram: pc2-6400 1gb x 2
gfx: geforce 9800GT 1gb ddr3
hdd: wdc wd3200ks-oop
cd drive: HL-DT-stDVD-ram
power S: Enermax Liberty 620w

problem: problem is that everytime i try to install windows 7 it freezes @ "starting windows logo" and sometimes will lead to a BBSO "acpi.sys"

if i try installing XP, it installs but at one point it will give me BBOD

what should i do?

You might want to try updating the bios as it may not be fully acpi compliant. Also searching have found that it could be a bios setting not set correctly.

You might want to try resetting the bios to defaults, there should be an option in the bios to do that.

so i tried to put to default, and try to install windows xp...while extracting it reboots it self for no reason....same with windows 7

If you go into the bios, is there a setting to change SATA controller to native ide or compatibility mode?
