I couldn't log on to my computer yesterday. The night before all was well. But I tried to log on yesterday and all it did was boot and then went to the log in screen, I picked my log in, but all that happened was it showed a blank desktop(NO ICONS) then right to log out. I tried to log on a couple of time, all wiht the same result!Any ideas? My system is a Dell XPS Gen4 3.6Ghz, 1Mb ram, 320mb HD (2X160 HD), RAID 0, Windows XP Pro SP2. I was on the phone with the Dell tech support guys, but they weren't really of any help. I was told that it could be a corrupt registry, virus, or spyware. I am running Spycatcher 2006 on my system along with Norton Internet Security 2005. I ran a spyware scan and it came back clean. At least I thought it came back clean! LOL We (Dell and I) tried a bunch of things but nothing worked. Well almost nothing, a system restore to an earlier date worked. But I would liked to know exactly what happened and how to prevent it from happening again. I would also like to know how to get my system back to where it was before the problem without having to reload all my stuff back and without having to completely reinstall (swipe the drives) everything on my system. Any help would be greatly apreciated!
