can't open web pages

hi guys.
if i leave my computer on for a while, which i do, after a while (a day or so) when i go to open a web page i can't, just getting the standard can't open page message, but my torrents will still be working so i'm still connected. then once i restart my box it'll be fine again for a while.
do i have a virus? nortons 07 ain't finding it.
any ideas?
p.s i've updated to ie 7 but it was happening on ie 6 too.

it may not be your case but if i leave my torrents on and i attempt to browse, forget it, nothing loads even if torrents are at 0kbps,
the only way i can browse it turning off torrents.
so you'll probably get the same thing too with Firefox or did you try firefox ?

Try to chek with all your torrent download paused. Is the problem prevails then or not.

yeah it's the same with firefox. i'm pretty sure it happens whether torrents are on or not, i'll make sure though.
(edit) yeah it happens either way, i'm thinking some virus of sorts is maybe using all my bandwidth making browser think there's no connection. but i'm really just guessing, any help greatly appreciated
