Can't see my hard drive when booting with my usb drive

I use a bootable USB key to load DOS and to use the command line.

The problem is that I can't see my computer's hard drive. The only unit that I see is c:, which represent the usb drive.

Do I have anything to add to the config.sys or autoexec.bat file?

This bootable usb key has been made from a windows 98 boot disk that I found on the web.

Thanks for any help.

How did you make the boot disk? DOS cannot read NTFS partitions, so that may be the problem? I guess you could try this: http://www.bootdisk.com/ntfs.htm

What do you hope to accomplish by accessing the hard drive in MSDOS mode? I recommend downloading a Linux Live CD/USB distro instead. I like SLAX. This way you'll have a nice GUI and you'll be able to access any partition, run a web browser, run utilities and all that jazz. It's a handy and powerful tool. :D
