Can't see phone in computer

Hello,

I've got a Huawei M-931 smart phone running Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and I cannot find a way to see my data when I connect it to my pc via USB. Oh, I'm running Windows 7 Home 64bit.

I have enabled debugging, downloaded drivers from android and tried different USB ports on my pc.

After I connect, my pc says it's downloading drivers and then says Windows can't find any drivers for your device (something along those lines). Also after connecting it and reconnecting it, in the device manger I get the old yellow "!" by Android device (meaning no drivers) or I'll get the yellow "!" by one of the USB Root Hubs under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

I'm out of options so any help would be great.

ThankS.

Make sure your usb connection in the phone is set for storage and not charging. Other than that, does other usb devices work when attached to the system?

Yes, other USB devices work just fine.

One thing I found out that was odd, If I go into settings>storage> the option "USB computer connection" is grayed out. It doesn't matter if I'm connected to a PC or not at the time it's always grayed out.

Try connecting to a different computer and see what happens. If it works then we can assume something is up with your pc. If not, then its something with the phone. You may need to reset back to factory on your phone.

I figured it out!

I had to play with it connecting and reconnecting the phone until I was prompted on my phone to enable Mass Storage. After that, good to go.

I still have to play with the connection to get it to actually work from time to time.

Weird :confused::rolleyes::eek:

Thanks for support:)

When you connect an Android device, you need to choose what mode to run the phone in when connected. Most phones let you choose mass storage, ethernet, tethering, camera, etc. As you found out, you want to use mass storage.
