Can't Select Icons From One Corner of Desktop

The top left quarter of my desktop has become un-selectable from direct clicking. I can only select the icons from this section if I drag a selection box from a different section of the screen. Also if I right click in this section and click properties it comes up as the properties of a youtube link in my favorites.

I'm running Vista SP2 and I can't find anything through googling. Kind of lost as to what this could be

A little unusual if i heard it right. We can try though to see if i understand. One question? Are these all short cuts on the desk top. If so, try going to the directory from explorer, program files or where ever its at. Find the file or exe file and click it and see if it works. If it works, exit, right click and create new shortcut on desktop. Delete old one if it works.
