Cant share files

I'm having trouble sharing files from my PC to other's on my network. Now I do have a router that I converted to a switch hooked up to my PC, I'm thinking that might be the issue, but I'm not sure. I can't even access my main router when I type in 192.168.1.2. What can I do to fix this?

I have had this thing hanging around my Pandora's box for a few years now. I have tried just about every thing that I can think of.

I turned DHCP off and On, still nothing.
Played with the Uplink setting nothing

For some reason my main Microsoft router does not show my PC on the network, but yet I have no issues connecting to online what so ever.

Not that router.......I picked two of those up for a couple of small biz networks. Both would randomly change options and die while I was trying to configure it. That this is a POS, get a Netgear.
