Can't uninstall AIM

I have to get AIM/AOL toolbar off of my laptop. It says that they are both being used. I've tried deleted, using the control pannel, and hitting the uninstall thing in the AIM folder. How can I get AIM off?

If it says it is being used then it must be running in the background. Ctrl-Alt-Delete it and go to processes. See if you can find AIM in the list and end it. Then try and uninstall it.

Start -> Run... -> type msconfig

there should be a processes tab, make sure you click the little box that says hide windows processes so you don't accidently stop a needed process.

While you're there you might want to check the startup tab to see if it starts up with windows.

click start> run, then type msconfig. click start up then uncheck what you dont want to run when its booting.

and to the safe mode thing. when you start up the computer, up until the windows splash screen, repeatadly press, F8 i think, and it should come up with a screen asking what to do

Sorry dude, another program that's running must be using AIM for some reason. I'm all out of ideas, someone else will know better then me.
