Can't uninstall AIM

I have to get AIM/AOL toolbar off of my laptop. It says that they are both being used. I've tried deleted, using the control pannel, and hitting the uninstall thing in the AIM folder. How can I get AIM off?

have you tried going into safe mode and uninstalling AIM
