Well my computer has broken down yesterday. After that I had reinstalled my windows. After reinistalling I updated drivers and used automatic updates. Now every time I use automatic updates it kills my computer.
First time I tried I stopped at update where I had to install genuine thing. I couldnt do that because it froze every time. I couldnt open browser or any folder and got spammed by messege "x program stopped responding".
After that I tried reinstalling windows again. Second time similar thing happened. I started automatic updates. After few updates my pc was restarted and when it was turned on I got messege." Dll not found. Contact system administrator to replace, fix this dll".
No I reinstalled it 3rd time. Now I havent updated anything and it works for now. But I need fully upgraded thing to use latest programs and stuff.
Any advises.

ps. I have xp sp3

I would need to know what dll file was causing the error. Are you downloading all updates or just the recommended ones? Only download and install a few at a time until you get to the one that causes the issue and then don't install that one.

Well I have reinstalled windows again so I cant check it. But I think that it is caused by one of security updates which comes along windows genuine. I was thinking about asking someone who has other windows disk to try rewrite. I think that mine windows disk/windows it writes are bugged.

I got it with computer from guy I bough my computer from ( I bought used one).

Edit. No when I looked that that disk I think its cracked one. It doesnt have windows style picture (most of windows cd I saw had it). That might be problem.

You cannot discuss illegal activities on this thread. I would suggest John will close this thread now, but until then, I would be running a check disk on your HDD as it appears your HDD may be failing.

Sorry. I realised only now that its copied windows. I will ask someone who has legal disk and dont need it to sell it to me ( it would be cheaper than buy new). Would that fix everything?

Also disk checking didnt helped. I tried it on 2nd attempt to fix.

Unfortunately not mate, (unless John disagrees), you are now asking us to help you fix an unofficial Windows installation. We cant really help with that, as it exposes the owner of this forum to liabilities and breaks the rules.

I would simply say that this is a hardware issue in all likelihood.

As long as he has a working Win7 key, he can download the ISO for free from Microsoft/Digital River:

John has suggested this before and is within forum rules.

Spartech, download the ISO of which the version of windows 7 you have (Most likely Home Premium) and burn it to a DVD using Imgburn. Use the product key, if you have one, and try to activate it. If it doesn't activate, I would strongly suggest purchasing a new copy of windows. Or go Linux.

Install Windows XP from that disk and of course install SP1,SP2 and SP3 (unless the disk already contains SP1,SP2 and SP3).After that install the drivers.

NOTE 1: Be sure that you are fully disconnected from the internet while doing everything I said above. After that turn off the automatic updates completely. After that feel free to connect back to the internet whenever you want/need to.

NOTE 2: Do not install any updates for Windows XP!The Microsoft corporation (on purpose) has put something in XP updates what modifies DLL files of XP OS and makes it unusable by giving you fake messages that some DLL files are missing. They do that so that people start saying that all of a sudden XP sucks so that they buy new operating systems (such as Windows 7) from Microsoft so that Microsoft can make a lot of money.

ADVICE: I have the original XP disk and on my TEST computer I tryed XP OS with and without updates and WITH updates XP becomes completely unusable by giving me fake messages that some files are missing (yea right). So do not use updates.Trust me everything will work great just fine by having SP1,SP2 and SP3 without any other updates.
There is ALWAYS a way to make your things work without installing all other extra updates which destroy XP.Before that was not the case and updates were doing their job properly, but in 2009. and later when Microsoft saw that on this way (by making bad fake updates AFTER SP3 was released which was the last good pack of updates) they can make a lot of money by forcing people to buy their new operating system(s).Of course that what they are doing is against the law,but on their big luck most of the people do not know a lot about computers so they would never think that Microsoft does that.Instead most of the people say that XP is now crap and it's time to buy new OS (which equals to Microsoft's profit based on doing things against the law).

For those who are wondering...I have looked the code of those modified files and I can tell you for sure that Microsoft has done a good job by hiding the code which makes those updates a perfect viruses, malwares and so on...

And yes I have all that (as a proof) stored on my UAC data device which is very well protected in a room full of surveilance. Some forum members may have seen the picture of it which I have put here few months ago.

Cheers!

Stars, you say some far-out stuff, but this takes the cake.

Stars, have you ever heard of libel? I suggest you look it up. Secondly, if what you're saying is true (which I very much doubt), you are breaking the rules of this forum and is against the law (copyright infringement).

To the OP, please, with all respect don't listen to this. With the vast array of hardware and potential conflicts, 3rd party software etc, its enevitable that an occassional issue arises. What Stars is neglecting to say, is the service packs are in fact a roll-up of all the previous windows updates - so by simple logic his point is a complete fail.

Install which OS you choose, and all the essential updates. Don't install any discretionary updates until we can work out what the issue is.

Sorry Stars, but what you said about Microsoft making XP horrible to use "on purpose" to make people buy new Windows versions is total crap, as well as telling him to disconnect from the Internet during the installation (totally unnecessary unless it's a [strike]bad crack[/strike] illegal Windows copy, which as so many people have mentioned isn't allowed to be discussed here.

I have Windows XP installed on an old laptop I use occasionally, none of the issues you've mentioned have come up. Perhaps what you thought you saw was put in by the pirate of the Windows XP copy you used.

I don't think so. It's true that Windows XP is being phased out, but Microsoft aren't deliberately giving bad updates to render the OS unstable and encourage people to move away.

Then what you said is definitely a load of crap. Sorry.

Hey check the updated data files yourself if you don't believe me lol.
All I know is that I am the one who has almost 15 years old computer which runs a lot better with the XP OS than those with quad core processors and what not which also use same XP OS "with" all latest updates. That is why people spend money to move to Windows 7.
(...I wonder WHY they decided to spend money to move to Windows 7...because it looks prettier?...Hmm...maybe not...MAYBE because XP ALL OF A SUDDEEN works slow and it wasn't like that before...) ---> ALL THAT EQUALS "MICROSOFT IS DOING SOMETHING TO FORCE MAJORITY TO BUY NEW OS IN ORDER TO EARN A LOT OF MONEY".

I understand if someone needs Windows Vista or Windows 7 because he/she/them want(s) to play DirectX 10 or 11 games or is using SPECIAL programs that REALLY require newer operating system(s).
But if what they are doing/using works PERFECTLY on Windows XP then why spend money on newer OS which will do the SAME???
I am sorry...I just can't understand that...I would rather give that money to poor children who has nothing to eat.

Don't believe me if you don't want lol.But that's the truth.

Cheers everybody!
