Can't update windows

No, I wasn't trying to use a non-IE browser to do windows updates.

No, I don't use IE on a regular basis.

Yes, I will report mean/flame posts.


Start --> windows update :
mini-IE screen comes up. I make it bigger.
Loads for a while, lots of that click thingy sound of the page changing... yes... very annoying.

Ah sorry, I'm using windows XP pro sp2.

I can't reinstall, it was a friend's disk. Friend has the disk now and we don't see eachother very often.
 
I'll try, but I'm on dial-up and windows updates haven't been working for me for a while.

300mbs???? O.O 150 mb files take around 17 hours...
 
Well, I always expected those updates to cancel when my net disconnected, but all in all they generally downloaded. Now, I get that error before I even start choosing which updates to download and which to not.
