can't watch dvds

i have a problem when playing dvds. i can't remember any big changes before it started, but when i put a dvd in, windows media player says it can't play it, and that i should go to controlpanal>display and change the pixel quality. this doesn't work. can anyone help me?

are the dvds on a disc or on your computer?

I don't know much but

I had the same problem with windows media player. I think you need to buy the software to read dvds. Maybe you don't all the features in windows media player. I might be off but I hope this helps.

I have a similar problem.
I dont think this should be the case, but when I put the DVD in the drive, it doesnt read the DVD!
It opens the dVD drive, but doesnt show any contents, and Media player and power dvd cannot read it.

Is it something to do with the DVD type? It says NTSC on it?
