i used to get it free, but now it's $60 a month.. it's cable, it's fast, it's great.. but it just seems like too much. and the company i get it from is the only local option.

i'm in northern minnesota.. can someone please point me to a website where they'll hook me up for a better price?

there has to be one

Sounds like a monopolistic situation... Where I am living at now, there is good competition between Verizon and Comcast... So, if I get angry with one, I will go to the other...

I had the same problem, and called my cable company to tell them that I was going to cancel. The customer service rep asked me why, and I said it was too expensive. She offered me six months at the introductory rate of $25 a month less. You can always call and see if they can offer you something better.

Why did you double post with a different name at the end?

If you think your a smooth talker try to get a sale rep on the phone, I found it fairly easy to get him to give me a better price, but you do need to be a smooth talker (I think I just lucked out)

Trust me, it worked for me. I'm paying $70 Aud a month for 24Mbit/s, with 100Gb peak dls, and 40Gb off peak downloads.

I like Tuffle's comment. its on the money. Your not alone. You have to talk to someone that can make that call. (demand it). what will you do for me.
I can only get comcast. Thats it. WOW has not come yet. ya need the competition so ya have prices. its really up to the city. The regulation is something like the cable company would have to supply for all the city. Lots of time they don't want to move into the city because others are in a remote area and would not get a lot of subscribers. Then again the ones that would get it are already subscribed.
trust me, the city has a lot to do with this.
good luck.

If there's any other high speed internet solutions you can call up your company (Company A) and say that you received a better off from them (company B), but you want to stay with Company A, and ask if they can match the offer (you can completely BS the offer). Company A will most likely give you some type of promotional package to keep you as their customer.
