Capture/Burn real time

OK, first off don't tell me this isn't possible because it is. How else do you think tv top DVD recorders work...? *growls* Someone started telling me there was no way.. Ugh...

Anyway, as the subject states, I'd like software that allows me to capture and burn videos directly to a DVD. No editing or anything. Just when I click record, it burns it right to the DVD, then I can finalize it and play on a DVD player. I don't mind if there's some lag and it has to capture some on the harddrive first, but I'd like it to basically be real-time.

I have a WinTVPVR-150 that captures directly to MPEG2 and I can burn it after I capture with no conversions without a problem.

I have seen one capture-card that comes with the software to do this, so I know it's out there, and the card this software comes with doesn't even have real-time encoding!

Ugh, well does anyone know of any software like this?

With DVD burners the speed they currently are it would be quite difficult to burn in "real time", it would have to work by burning the whole movie to a HDD first then to DVD, and it wouldn't be logical to have it buring to DVD and recording at the same time as the file would keep changing and being writen to as it went, so it would be better to record then burn later!

Any way why do you want an "instant record" any way?

Why do people keep saying it would be difficult?! It isn't, or there wouldn't be set-top DVD-Recorders WITHOUT harddrives! Ugh...I'd complain more but I got to go to class.

Basically, I just want one for the ease of recording.

The only thing thats difficult about it is finding the software that supports this feature... i too fail to see why everybody goes on about the difficulty of it too

Burning a disk should be no slower than reading a disk. As long as you can get the data to the disk at 1x with a buffer for a little leeway, how could this be so hard? Sorry if I sounded a little harsh before, but I dont understand why people think this is so far fetched...

Well, recording video, depending on quality of course can be very large and it MAY be to big for it to constantly record is all im saying... But as i asked before why bother? What is your point for doing this?

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but I just wanted to prove to people that it's totally possible :P I got this recently...I still would rather have a computer to do this, but this works great. It has no harddrive, and is compatable with any disk speed(yes, even 1x)
