Card and Monitor Res Question

I hate to sound like an uber noob here, but i want to be sure of this before i plunk 300+ dollars on a new 20" widescreen monitor. i know that my card (nVidia FX5900XT) has a max res of 2048 x 1536. but, does that include the new monitors native res of 1680x1050. i think i just some self-respect for not knowing this myself...

if it supports 2048x1536 then i would think that it would support any lesser resolution below that. That and i found a discussion with a person using your card at 1680x1050 so your good, i don't think i'd exect to stellar of performance in games at that resolution with your card but everything else should be peachy

Remember you are talking of 2 aspect ratios here.
2048,1536 is 1.33 which is 4:3 ratio
1680,1050 is 1.6 which is 8:5 ratio
By picking the wrong resolution a circle won't be a circle anymore but slightly elliptical.
