Card question

I have a DELL Dimension 3000, and when I try to play CS:S it says I do not meet the minimum requirements as far as my video card which is a Intel Extreme I believe. Well, it says that the card needs to be directx7 capable, so I got a Nvidia GeForce 256 ELSA Synergy Force 32MB AGP Video card for cheap. I went cheap because I plan to build my first/new PC sometime in the near future. The question is do you think that card should work as ar as my dell system, and for CS:S?

Have you bought it already?

I don't know, I really doubt it as most of the onboard graphic chips now come with 64mb and even that is low!

The best thing to do if you have it is to just try it :)

Well, I mean it is Directx7 capable..I guess I mine as well just keep it in the closet with old parts to work on PC's...I'll have to save up, and buy a nicer card. I wasted $30, but that isn't too bad. Ah, thanks anyways

OK guys, well now that I am done with that. What is the cheapest/most reliable card you guys can recommend for me? Hopefully under $100, maybe around $75? just enough to play CS:S until I can afford enough for all the PC parts I will need

If you are going to change of computer soon, don't bother with the 75$ since isn't worth it mostly because you'll get a new computer soon

Well, it may be a while...I may just upgrade this for the time being, and could I just change the graphics card to the new computer if I built one? Out of these three cards which do you guys think is best for the money?

I have also been looking at the ATI Radeon X1300 PCI...It seems to cost around $110-$120, but I hear it is good..What do you think

I think (I may be wrong though) that the X1300 is the best PCI card that you can get, I think you'd be hard pushed to find a better one.

Yeah, that is what I am hearing, I am justt rying to find a cheap one, cheapest I found was $114 off newegg, but I can't buy off newegg because i dont have a credit card on my paypal, only bank account. I was trying to go cheaper though since I don't play games too much, just would play a little source.

To be honest with you, I really don't think that it is worth getting a PCI graphics card at the moment, they are so old. It'll probably barely run CS and I doubt it'll be able to play any of the new games.

You'd be better off getitng new MOBO so you can get an AGP or even better a PCI-e slot.

So, I shouldn't buy one at all for the PCI? I was thinking of buying a $59.99 or so one, that would maybe work with CS? I am not sure though, I saw one that gave good reviews, but who knows..I also will have 1 GB of RAM soon which should help out. If it won't make much of a difference if I got a PCI graphics card, then I could wait until I bought all the parts needed for a new computer and get a PCI-E Graphics card.
