Card reader does not work

Hey everybody. I have an HP a1710n that came with a 9 in 1 card reader. I installed xp(came with vista), now the reader isnt recognized(all other devices are however), tried sticking a micro sd/pro duo card to no avail. I contacted HP but was not told the reader's manufacturer. Is there a driver or some other fix that I can try to resolve this issue? Kinda getting on my nerves at this point.

If HP doesnt have the XP drivers for the card reader you will have to find out what brand it is and see if they have XP drivers
 
First try removing the drivers for this device, (in device manager) reboot and let windows try to find new drivers for it. If it asks to go online to do this, let it.
 
n00b 101....make sure things are plugged in all the way! Seemed that I dislodged the connection when I installed my tuner card...oops! Thanks for the replies though, ill keep the drivers suggestion in mind for the future :)
