Hi all, could I mount my Dell optiplex GX260 desktop on end? Back ports facing floor and DVD drive loading door facing the ceiling? This is a custom application in a vehicle ? Thanks for any responses

well that sounds like it'll make it a bit difficult to plug things into the back of it, and if you don't have a laptop style cd drive (type that the cd click into the try) that might be a problem but other than that you shouldn't have any problems. Also as a note if you are running the computer while driving be prepared to replace hard drive(s) because the bumps you hit can damage them really easily. If you don't have it on while you're moving you should be fine.

You can mount anything in any position. But the law of gravity would defeat the purpose for more then one reason. Those plastic drive gears are certainly not meant for vertical lift with the weight of a disk added to the drawer itself. Back exhaust ports facing the floor elevated by how much? Heated air rises up not down. The type of vehicle and custom power wiring not from lighter would be another concern to work out as well. (we have a report of an unidentified flying disk. apparently someone had to make a quick stop of the freeway. :P )
