Cash Back and computers

The website looks like some kid made it, that's for sure. It looks like a grade 6 art project. That would turn me off right off the bat.

It's an advertising gimmick. PPC. Pay Per Click. The people that he has listed on the right are paying him for the "referrals". In other words, every time someone clicks one of their logos, they give him a kickback. Probably in the neighborhood of $.002 per click.

They are getting 100 visits per day and the feedback is that the site is too "busy" looking.

Their name appears to be "Ramitra" (or that could possibly just be a nick) and they are a teenager.

EDIT:

Something interesting to note. The person that operates that website has gone to great lengths to hide their identity. Even so far as to utilize the services of contactprivacy.com in Toronto to hide their contact information from the WHOIS database.

My opinion? Stay the hell away from it.

REEDIT:

Now that I think about it, based upon my searches I just realized something. I have a peculiar feeling that I have just been talking to the person that owns that website. They have been doing the same thing spamming up MSN Groups, considering computers aren't the only thing on that "site". Oh well. No matter.

whats wrong with you??

Hi there
This is the reply for sirkenon
I’m not the editor of this particular web site. However I was planning to buy a dell laptop.
I bought my laptop by clicking shop link of jamyam.com, just before that I made a phone call to their number 0870 345 9983 and I told them about your post too. As www.jamyam,.com promised, in 5Mn I received the cash back they promised on my paypal account and the invoice of dell laptop. I can post a copy of the invoice.
I don’t know why are going around and posting the message against them?
I think that the propaganda you are carrying out against a corporate business by writing “teens”, “6th grade” etc .. is quit dangerous for you.
You must be their competitor or living in a country where the legislation is not organised.
After your message I went through their forum I found the messages.
Give them a call if you could, it must be expensive from a 3rd world to stop the legal process against you!! This is the number 0870 345 9983.

hahaha. Now I know for SURE I am speaking to the owner of the website.

Listen closely. Go ahead. Bring litigation against me. I dare you. Considering as how you are going to have to ask your parents to fly across the ocean to file suit in my jurisdiction, are the costs worth it to you because I exposed your little scam? Also it is not considered slander or libel to say that a website looks like a 6th grade art project. Clearly you have no idea what falls under those definitions.

Let's not forget that it is not illegal to reveal the truth. In a suit of libel you are obligated to prove ill intent (in other words, knowingly spreading falsehoods) and that it seriously hampered your ability to conduct business. Are you willing to risk it? That's a lot of money to lose when the person on the other side of the ocean not only knows the Law, but also presented fact and can present said facts in a Court of Law (the best defence against a libel suit).

If you truly bought a laptop from them, you would have not asked us for opinions. That would be pointless. Rather, you would tell us that you bought one and you had a good experience. Not only that, but it would be easy for you to present an invoice, being the owner of the site.

Also, the website promises that the money will be deposited in the purchasers Jamyam account.

All you have to do is click on the link to your chosen shop

& buy from their website as normal. We then credit your

jamyam.com account with your cashback!

http://www.jamyam.com/com.php

However your quoted post tells us that it will be deposited into the buyer's paypal account. Which is it?

I have been in this business a long time. I know all about website promotion and the SEO tactics you have employed on your page. I also recognize the technique you used in the post I quoted. It is an extremely common advertising technique, used in radio and print. The last thing I suggest you do is take me for a fool.

You are a teenager. I looked you up. Did you think I was stupid? I actually, foolishly, thought someone was asking an honest question, so I did my homework to give them a thorough, honest answer.

All appearances lead to the fact that you are a fraud. Yes, I did do my research as you can tell. It might be an idea if you disappear very quickly before I get tempted to notify Interpol.

For the sake of all on these boards, don't ever threaten anyone on here again.

AFTERTHOUGHTS:

Something else I noticed. Your website is completely devoid of information of what people can do with their earnings before they sign up. It doesn't mention transfer options to paypal. It doesn't mention any way of spending the money. In fact, it doesn't mention any usefulness at all.

Again, it stinks like fraud. That's all I'm saying

I would not recommend it to anyone.

WARNING TO ALL CF'ers!!!

It is 7 am here and I can't sleep, so I decided to look into this a little more for something to do. I did a check on the phone number provided. It's a home number. They refused to give me any more information. So I did a reverse lookup. It's an unlisted phone number.

This stinks.

Our friend is lying about the money. His website says that it goes into a "Jamyam account". Then his post says that the money goes into a Paypal account "as promised". Where is that promised, exactly?

He tells his website visitors that he will deposit 3 pounds into their account for creating an account and give them cash back if they buy from one of his sponsored links. You can't tell people you're going to give them something and then not give it to them. If they do actually somehow succeed in utilizing the funds (I can't for the life of me figure out how), but you don't actually deposit it on your end, you just committed a serious offense. I'll explain where I'm going with this in a second.

We have no way of knowing how to access the promised funds or how to utilize them. The account (see screenshots below) appears to be for website affiliates. I couldn't find a login for customers anywhere. I've sat and thought about it for a few minutes. What if I am not a website affiliate? Does that mean I don't get to cash in on his promises? If you buy from him and he does not deliver on his promise, that's fraud. I signed up for his website. When you click on "check your earnings" from within your account, you get a 404 error message. When you click on the one on the main page, your account statement says 0 pounds. So much for the 3 pounds on signup. Ok. So maybe he's not committing an IT crime per se. But he is committing a fraud. I did check some of the sponsors to see what they are offering. Some of them will offer discounts to any visitor that comes through one of his links. HOWEVER, they do not offer a kickback to Jamyam.com. The only way yimyam is going to pay you as promised is to take it out of his advertising revenue. At $.002 per click and only 100 visitors per day, that's not a hell of a lot, and that disappears very quickly when a visitor buys a laptop. He did say that his revenue is 100 pounds per week. 2% cash back on a Dell laptop is going to eat that in a hell of a hurry.

He's using a company called www.tradedoubler.com in the UK to generate those ads. You can actually go to that website and do the same thing he's doing, but legitimately.

I decided to notify the authorities and leave it in their hands. I hope he has his paperwork in order. It's never a good idea to play games with me. I do funny things when I get bored. :)

EDIT (Maybe I should have just done everything in one shot. I've edited this quite a few times already):

Here are a couple of screenshots for interest's sake (yes, I'm bored. I hate this time of day). It says my website isn't making him any money and I get 0 pounds in my account.

I wonder why my website would be requested? I can't help but be curious. Am I an affiliate as stated on the signup page, or am I a customer? The earnings page does say "sales from your site"... Makes you wonder, doesn't it.
