Cause of Monitor Color Loss?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here goes:

I'm working on a monitor for a new PC mod I'm doing. I have seperated the monitor tube from the circuit / controller board and everything seemed OK. However when I reattached everything to do a 'midway test', I heard what sounded like a hissing air leak coming from the HV line (Which I have cut and resoldered due to a lack of a better way to disconnect it). I powered the system down and applied a generous amount of electrical tape to the uninsulated portion of the HV line and powered it back up. no leak sound, and everything seemed to be in order. the picture came on but it was tinted yellow, almost as if the connector wasnt seated in the video card properly (if you can picture what I'm saying).

My question is, is the loss or distortion of color likely because of the apparent loss of a vacuum in the picture tube (caused by the hissing leaking noise I heard)? Or is it more likely a connection problem somewhere?

(By the way, I am comfortable around the high voltages inside a monitor and am aware (firsthand) of the dangers they pose, dont worry.)

It's hard to tell. If the vacuum managed to escape, then the picture should be dim or not visible (I could be wrong). Hmmm, I think I have a forum that should be more helpful to you. Hold on…
