CCC Issues

Hey everyone, I have a problem that I was hoping you can help me fix.

For some reason, my catalyst control center disappeared. Ive uninstalled all ati programs, the driver, downloaded and installed the drivers. Still nothing appears. I would really like it to over clock my gpu and get better performance.

My video card is a HIS ATI Radeon 4870.

Run a driver swep and then re-install. I have un-installed CC and it is still there, or some part of it. Otherwise can't you find it under start - programs? Sweep the old out and re-install from AMD's web site.

DO NOT DRIVER SWEEP!

Honestly it causes nothing but issues! It completely !@#ed up my system and i had to reformat. Instead, please use the Catalyst Install Maanager included with the drivers you downloaded, run the file and select Uninstall. When this is done, reboot your machine, run the file again and select Install.

That should fix any problems you are having. I cannot stress enough that driver sweeper will make it worse.

Never used driversweep myself, but it does sound like one of those scam-like programs (such as the "praised" Spyware Doctor :P).

I'd suggest just uninstalling the software/drivers completely, reboot and run something like CCeaner to clean up any remaining software or registry entries. Then reload with the latest version. That should fix any issues.

Ok ive tried that but still didn't fix it. Catalyst Control Center doesn't even show up anymore when trying to install the drivers.

After downloading the NEW ones, run the file. there is an uption for UNINSTALL which will remove all traces of existing drivers (existant or not) and then require a reboot.

After that reboot, run the new driver file again and select INSTALL and EXPRESS to avoid any issues. It works best when you select express. trust me, I went through the headache myself. :o

I was asked by Diamond tech support to use driver sweep to fix an issue, it did. Sorry you had a problem. This is due to a problem with ATI uninstall software that still leaves part of the old CC when we use AMD software to remove it.
I would disagree and still do use it.

It is a fairly well known issue that the CCC uninstaller does not completly remove all files. I read alot about it on the AMD forums. Driver sweeper does work for me and would be something I consider a must when changing ATI series of cards. If others don't feel comfortable I would say dont use it though.
