CCleaner

I think I'm gonna try this on my work computer and my Laptop at home.

I see that it says "Save File".OK,does it download something and stays on the computer that I have to remove something or does it remove it's self?

Will it delete or change anything that I normally use?

It downloads and installs on your computer like an antivirus program. You run it whenever you want to clean your drive of clutter and it automatically delets the files. YOu can analyze it before running the program and at will tell you all the files it will be deleting to see if you want to go through with the cleaning.

it clears your iexplorer cookies, and saved passwords, empties Recycle bin, etc. It has a default option - but you can click or unclick options of what you want it to clean. If you have any saved passwords - you'll have to re-enter them - and instruct your PC to save them again. You might be able to uncheck the option when you run Ccleaner - but I don't save many passwords on my PC - so hasn't bothered me.

If you want to see a better idea of what it is - you can install it - and click analyze. I've not had any problems with it - I run it every week or two usually to clear things out.

Ccleaner also cleans that, and many other areas. And you don't need to click on tools in Internet Explorer

CCleaner is very safe to use, member Jamin43 has really covered everything for you.
Now its time to download it and run it ;)
I actually use it every day!

Many of us find the uninstall tool of CCleaner often does a better job than the Add/Remove option under Windows. Good to see you here kimsland. You did stellar work on the TechSpot forums.

Wow thanks :)
Hey you know how I can be a bit controversal at times :D Well I think that I've already started this here too. I'm taking a break from Neowin as well because they "warned" me (huh!) when I posted my thoughts on a religious thread (Mind you the Mod was highly religious himself - confirmed)
I argued with them that it was my opinion, but err Just normal for me I suppose ;)

Downloaded it,now what?
I don't know how to start it up?
I see this window that says Vidc.Cleaner and I hit run and that's it,it just shows 20 items.
I found it in the All Programs and it has a lot of things to clink on,but which one to analyze and execute?

Once downloaded (done)
And installed (done)
You run it (done)
And press the button: "Run Cleaner"
And then its all done ;)

When I clicked the CCleaner thing it pulled something up the said ''Save File'',I didn't see anyplace that said to install.Does that mean it's installed?

I have never saved the file on about 10,000 computers! And never had an issue because of this
No need to save the file ;)

By the way to save a possible further question, close all your Internet browsers (ie Internet Explore or Firefox or both)before running CCleaner

If you click on the download now button ( from the link above ) - it will ask you to " save file " Ccleaner.exe and you click - Yes. Once you have it downloaded - it will ask to install - similar to installing any program on your computer. Once installed - click on the ICON and run the program.

Is this the " save file " you are referring to.

I think I really done it now!!!!!

I uninstalled thinking I could re-download it,this time I went to downloads on the site and downloaded from there.I can't find it on my computer now.

I can search and find it in C:/WINDOWS/PREFETCH.
I don't know what that is? Can I delete it?

I finally got it.!After it downloaded, while the downloaded files window was still open I right clicked and it had an option to run,so now it's on there.

Just analyzed it and there are a few in question,
Utilities - AVG AntiVirus 8.0
Multimedia - Adobe Flash Player
Multimedia - Real Player
Applications - Office XP
System - Windows File Logs

What is that stuff?
It's not really gonna delete all of AVG is it?
Or any other program that the computer require to operate?

From what I re-read is it won't,so I'll try it out.

Well, just did it and Quick Books still works, the main thing,I can't still get on the internet.

Question though, when I came back to this site and pressed ''s'' it still pulled up all the info to log on.I thought it was suppose to delete all that.

No - it's not going to remove the applications or files. It may remove things like -
i.e. Office XP - if you have cookies that save your most recently viewed document in a quick view list that your app tracks from cookies. The document will still be in it's place of storage - but your quick find ( list will be empty.)
i.e. Media Player - if you have a cookies list of the most recently downloaded files - or if your PC has a cookie for the last 10 videos you watched - it will be cleared - The videos will still be there - but the cookie that links it to other things will be removed.

Things like that

Are you using Mozilla Firefox?

If so, I haven't figured that one out either. My Firefox explorer does the same thing.
