CD and DVD drive problem!!!!!

This problem is eating my head. My computer cannot recognize neither my samsung dvd drive or liteon cd drive. This problem occured a week earliar too, at that time i formatted the computer but now i don't want to delete all the files. What is happening. There r no drivers for the drives. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
 
Do you have it set up correctly in the BIOS? You might want to start with that. Also, are you sure you have them connected correctly?
 
are the drives on the same IDE cable, if so make sure that some has the jumper on the back set to master and the other to slave.
if that doesn't help try the drives on their own
 
Agreed, check the master/slave. Plus as someone said, they should be setup in the BIOS. If they are there and don't show up in windows...well that's like a virus I had in the past. More of a windows 9x problem, though :P
 
Also, you said you were messing around with your computer, did you by any chance happen to change/disturb any of the jumpers on your drives. That would do it too.
