CD and DVD drives stopped working

me and my cousin play warcraft occasionally and both of his dvd and cd drives stopped working for no apparent reason, anyone had this problem before? they dont' even open nor flash or anything, the psu seems fine, everythign else works good
 
Try restarting the system, as well as checking the cables. That is of course if you know how to open your computer.
 
It sounds more like they were hit with some type of power surge where the controller cards on them were cooked unless the 12v rail was either simultaneously unplugged or a fault with the psu came up. Even with a bad cable the drive bays should still open when the door button is pushed. Have your cousin look inside to see if the power is still connected to each drive.
