CD Boot Laptop

I'm looking for instrucitons on how to create a bootable OS image on a CD so I can boot a laptop without a hard drive and just run the OS/Programs from the CD/RAM. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: OS needs to be Windows, preferrably 2000 or XP.

You can try using a Live CD from from different Linux distros/sources. Some are Knoppix, Suse, and Linspire.
