CD Burner problems

hi, ever since i reformatted my computer, i cant burn CDs! (I have windows XP if that matters) when i try to make an audio CD, it converts the files like normal, then when it actually tries to write the songs to the CD, the CD pops out, and it says, "Windows media player cannot burn the files to the CD. verify that the CD is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs." the CD isnt damaged, i tried all of the recording speeds, and tried 2 brands of discs.

the same thing happens when i try to make a data CD. Is there something i have to do after i reformat to make the CD burner work right? i reformatted twice, i NEED this cd burner, if someone knows how to fix this, i will love you

and i tried some other software on my computer, Musicmatch Burner Plus, RecordNow, and RealOne player. they all said that the discs are damaged. both brands are brand new, not damaged at all. any suggestions??

Did you reinstall Windows exactly as before, including any upgrades to WMP? Have you tried any other burning software?

To make sure your drive is communicating OK, go to Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Check primary and secondary channels for your cd drive You may not know which channel it's on. Right-click Properties / Advanced Settings. Your dvd drive should be something like "DMA if available" "UDMA2" or "UDMA4".

i have this same problem too its super annoying, my cd burner is 6 years old though so I can assume its just worn out and is having difficulties. It worked fine and suddenly started doing that exact same thing, i tried like 30 cd's but it didnt work, so I have given up on it, I'm about to get a new computer that I wont be going online with so I need something to transfer data I'm thinking a usb plug in cheap burner or something but if its a software problem that wont help and ill be out the cash hmmm
