cd burning problems

I have a cd-rom drive that is capable of burning cd's. I got a new computer about a month ago and i haven't tried it yet until yesterday and it didn't work. It sais no burner is detected. My brother also used the same cd-rom drive in his computer and he was able to burn with it. Thanks a lot.

Are you sure that the drive is CD-RW?

Sounds like someone said that it was cd-rw and he bought it from them thinking that it was cd-rw, lol.

yeh my bro has used it to burn cd's in his pc before i put it in mine

You should probably double-check to see if the power cable as well as the data cable is connected properly. Have you set the correct jumper settings after installing the drive?

Goto the CONTROL-PANEL - SYSTEM - DEVICE-MANAGER, check if your CDRW is listed.
If not, goto CONTROL-PANEL - ADD NEW DEVICE, and see what it finds...
