CD driver wont open!

I have this odd problem.
My CD/DVD driver wont open somehow, when i look at my computer, its kind of odd that all i have is Local Disk (C and DVD Drive (F.
Any solutions?

if you see it in the my computer (might be something else in vista/7, not real sure there) then right click on it and hit like eject or something. I will be of more help when I get home and can actually try it.

If the drive doesn't open, then its usually shot or its possible the belt that runs the mechanism has broke. After a few years, this starts happening to cd drives anyway, the mechanism just gets worn out from age/use.

sometimes it can just be the eject button though. I have that problem every now and again, but it will open from going to computer and saying eject.

either way it is better to just get a new drive, as they are sub 20, but if you have a CD in the drive it may help get it out. That and the paperclip emergency open.
