cd/dvd combo

i had problem in my cd/DVD combo

when I first buy the rom it was ok then it can read cd and dvd but after a year my rom cant read dvd anymore. i tried to reinstall and update the rom but it the problem still didn't fix.
 
How did you "reinstall and update" the drive? Because CD/DVD drives don't really have drivers or anything.

So no DVDs will work with the drive? Commercial, burnt, single, or duel layer? I know I have seen some DVD drives loose their DVD capability.
 
am manage then their was change the location and other i click it to asia philippine i dont if it was a update then in reinstall i mean i reinstall the system windows xp software but the dvd rom didn't work.
