CD installation problem

I was going back through my old game library and found Starcraft and UT2004. Long story short, I wanted to play them. I put the disc into the drive, yet nothing happens. I go to My Computer, and try and manually start the auto play..no luck. Does anyone know whats up?

From what I understand the disc(s) are not dirty or scratched, they have been in their cases for well over 2 years. I see no visible scratches on the disc. and I get no "unreadable" dialogue messages. I am at a loss on what to do.

For one you don't click on the "auto run" at the root of the disk. Try browsing the installation folders on the disks for the "setup.exe" or "install.exe" executable files. If the games are on dvds not cds that will also stall the autoplay/autorun feature. Make sure the games are cd-rs not dvd-rs or you will need a dvd drive installed to run them.

I couldnt find "setup.exe" or "install.exe". I right clicked on the drive i put the disc in under My Computer, and clicked open, and explore. Yet the only thing i found was "autoplay" I have tried the disc in my cd and dvd drive with still no luck. Whats the deal? I can install Diablo I perfectly fine, but not starcraft and UT2004.

slow reading cd

Hi all,
When I put a cd with pictures burned to it autoplay appears on desktop and appears to be loading files very slowly. Some other cd's with pics work fine. Could the cd be damaged or just no good. Is there a way to check?
Thanks

lhow2000 if the cd contains many files(hundred of thousand) it's normal to take some time to read them all.And if you have chosen to display them as thumbnails it will take more time to display them all.

thanks for the reply starcab.
the cd i am talking about still won't work but others with the same amount of pictures does.
must be the cd.
is there any way to test the cd to see if it is any good?
it doesn't have any visible damage.
thanks again
