well heres a quick and simple question for everyone to answer,

if i was to make a ghost image of an installed os on my pc, and i burned it to cd,

would i be able to boot from the cd into the Windows on the cd

basically burn an os onto cd and then boot from it

No. A bootable disk is not just a copy of the installed system. Apart from that you would need a few cds. My Windows folder alone is nearly 4Gb. There are a number of guides available for creating a bootdisk.

I did alot of shrinking down of windows XP its now 1.9gb and i need a way to reduce this further,

With the intention of doing what with the files? You've already been told that you can't boot from the XP files.

Is this related to a boot disk along the lines of link posted by palmmann?

Like have your XP OS running from a cd? Like those that can run on flash sticks/drives and such?
