CD-Rom not working

New Member
My Cd-Burner quit working so I installed a new one. When my computer booted up I must have missed the prompt to install the software. Now I can't find the drive and it obviously isn't working. How can I get the computer to recognize my cd-rom so I can install the new software for the new cd burner?

With any of the newer operating systems you do not need to install drivers for a CD/DVD drive. But yeah you do need to install software to do anything with the drive.

Like stranglehold said, check your jumpers. Also check both ends of your other connections to it.
 
Theres jumper setting on the back of the drive. If you have 2 drives on one cable one needs to be set as master and one slave

Thanks. When my cd drive stopped working, I removed the old one and replaced it with another. I made sure the connections were secure so I guess I don't know what to check from there. The cd rom just doesn't seemed to be recognized by the computer. I did get an error message saying there was no cd player found.
 
OK, I am getting a message saying, "There is no CD Rom Player attached to this computer. Should I still check the jumpers?

Forget the connections for a moment, your new one should have a jumper pushed onto two pins. Check and report back on whether the jumper link is set to master or slave.
