CD-ROM reading DVDs

Hello!
I have a doubt: Is there any drivers I can install to my CD-ROM reader so it can read DVDs? I really want to be able to see them in my PC.
Thanks...

Ok

Oh, it's just that I saw in a magazine that if you had a CD-ROM, you could make it read DVDs downloading a program from a website... I just lost the magazine, so I can't make the download...

Hmmm....never heard of that

Nah just upgrade your drive. If you really want to play DVD's. The drives are very cheap now (About £12)

As others said before, its impossible. DVD and CD use different lasers because the discs architecture are all different.

yeah there is a NEC burner model older version i forgot the number, got one of those that is dual format and after a firmware upgrade it can read dual layer too .

Hmm

The NEC ND-3520/3540 are very very good burners for the price. They can both burn both dual layer formats and naturally also read them. I have the ND-3520 and have not had a single problem yet. I believe that they are very reliable and definitely a bargain. They are very close to Plextors when it comes to the chipset used for example. Worry not and get one.
