no, 48x disc means it can be writted on at that speed, no reason its not supposed to be not detecting, which means the cd drive is bad, loose cable, or bad driver.
Or depending on how the disk was written. If the session was left open or something like that, sometimes only the original computer that wrote the disk can read it.
