I think my cdrom is not working. How can I tell for sure?

Thanks
Eddie

PS: it's an HP Pavilion zt1000 Laptop.

the problems is windows wont start up and have tried to reinstall windows but it just says can find ntdlr. WOn't start up in safe mode or any mode for that matter.

Thanks
Eddie

"put a cd in and see if it reads" LOL, I would hope someone would try that before posting such a question ;P

You probably don't have it set up to boot from the CD. Enter the bios and change your boot order.

So it's not the CD-ROM that is not working, it's the windows :D You should have asked the question differently man, you should have said that your windows is not working, what can I do about it :)

As mentioned, try to change the boot order, and if this didn't work and windows didn't start, try booting up your computer with the Boot CD and recover the windows, this will be much more easier.

when you create the partition for windows (which means re installing windows) make sure its all on one partition first, then aply any other partitions in windows. this is what i had to do to get rid of the ntdlr error

I finally created a bootable cd using Nero. After I booted up this is what came up [ER=DOS] A:\>. What do I do now?

Thanks
Eddie

You'd be surprised.

He did not know that though which was obvious from his question :P.

I refuse to answer this twice :P. You really should not make multiple posts.
