Sometime you may get a laptop tha twont copy a os in it. And youknow it is not the cd disk that is bad but the cdrom drive. Ihave a external cdrom drive but the laptop wont recognize it because it is usb
How can i get it to recognize the external How do you get the drivers in there at the startup screen

You can try to make an iso out of your OS cd and place it on usb, here is one for xp:
http://www.vandomburg.net/installing-windows-xp-from-usb/
Of course you will need to perform this on another computer but atleast you will be able to install your os from usb.

i do have one 500 gb Now question if i put all that info you gave me on that usb
drive then all igot to do is when i get to a startup screen is first set bios and then
automatically when i get to the startup screen it will install the os

also what will happen if i put other things on that usb hardrive that got nothing to do with installing a os will it interfere with the installing of the os
